What is better Geforce 256 DDR or Geforce 2 MX

The GeForce DDR is slightly faster at lower resolutions but at higher resolutions it is much faster. I have heard rumor that Creative will be releasing a GeForce 2mx with DDR memory for around $150. If this is true that card will mop the floor with the GeForce DDR. Waiting to see!

don't be so sure about the MX DDR though... MX only supports 64 bit DDR SDRAM, which is essentially the same as 128 bit SDR. I don't think there will be much difference.

I used to have a DDR board but ditched it for the MX. The "speed" is a tad slower in games, but the image quality is higher quality on the MX. I have yet to experiance a video lockup with the MX.

I had a hell of a time trying to get my DDR board stable. I can finally play NFS5 without lockups.

GeForce DDR needs about 5-6 times the power that the MX uses. I think that register combiners are also not available on the original GeForce, so you're missing a feature (although not that significant). MX also has better control over image quality.

I'm using an MX over here, and loving it. But if I had the exta dough (and a 300W power supply), I'd have gone with a DDR.

The mx ddr will be the same speed as a sdr mx. the ddr uses 4 times the power. its also up to 50% faster in resolutions abot 1024-768. the SDR is actually faster than the mx in q3 16 bit color.

DDR all the way

Plus i nabbed a DDR for only 120 bucks. much better than a mx

I've heard that the mx has an advantage on texture output. All in all, I think the DDR is very comparable though. If you got the geforce DDR, don't worry about upgrading.

I have both, and they offer very similar performance--IF you overclock the MX memory to 200. I prefer the MX since it uses less power and produces less heat.
