Question What is best RAM testing software?

What would be the recommended DRAM checking software?
For stability testing ect.

I'm looking a HCI memtest now, wondering if the 14 dollar version is worth is. Which the FAQ states you can make a bootable USB drive to take the OS out of the equation, the pro provides error logs, for incorrect BIOS settings ect.

It is a 9 dollar difference between Pro and Deluxe.

What would you all recommend? I have 2400Mhz DDR3 gskill modules. 8x2.

Thank you for any info advised, besides platform upgrade. (not in the cards for now)

Well haven't paid for anything yet. Which is why I was reaching out.

Edit: BTW I am using DDR3.

Edit EDIT: I am using Windows, I don't think I have bad memory, just maybe settings.

TY

Memtest doesn't care and if you use the bootable image it doesn't matter the OS either.

DDR 3 means it's time for an overhaul and upgrade in my book. Prices are down on current-ish CPU setups and new releases are coming next month a d will drive prices down further.

DDR 4/5 systems are now about the same costs and perform about the same. Depends on the CPU and GPU you put inside now.

I know that, other priorities are in front of platform upgrade right now though.
I have to use what I have.

If your RAM dies it's going to cost more than the new stuff since it's a collectible now. Time to start a slush fund.

Assuming something triggered the idea to test it?

Gskill should have lifetime warranty, they may even be able to replace DDR3 still, but not sure. That is assuming something is wrong with your kit. I would recommend memtest86 as well, at least for starters. You can also use OCCT memtest, which should also be free.

If you don't have enough spare USB drives to make a bootable memtest86 stick, I would recommend buying a USB flash drive for this, or using an external SSD to be a Ventoy drive, for multiiple boot options.

That said, what issues are you having, if any? And are you overclockng/tweaking in BIOS?

I have used memtest and Google's memory tester, and several others. I have had all pass their test after running for hours. Then I play a game for 15 minutes and it crashes due to my overclocked memory speed. Lower it some and games work fine. So games work best in my experience for testing. I have seen this with space engineers and valorant.

Mainly prime.95 freezes after a few hours. Wanted to test memory alone to rule out.
Yes it's overclocking.
I really think it's the video card driver crashing in-game with it's over clock.

It's something in the overclock that's unstable.
Hci memtest ran all night with 200mb leftover for windows so it's not the kit. Plus I have a 1866 kit with tighter timings and another 1600mhz kit I think it is.

Lost the diskdrives from bios last night but that's ok because I was able to swap them around and use the boards RAID builder and make the 1tb SSD the D drive.
Was a very noticeable difference between the 2 on game loading times. It's a 4 drive 0 128gb per drive array

Where's the fun in that?

Set multiplier and forget it?

No this is old hardware, that still has life in it, and so many tweaking options, the newer gens wouldn't know where to start.

Besides the Ryzen memory calculator at best guess.

I digress.
