I just purchased an AMD motherboard from newegg myslef, and after doing quite a bit of research I ended up getting an ASRock "K8S8X" SiS755 Chipset Motherboard.

The research I had done indicated that the SiS 755 was superior to both the Nvidia Nforce3 150 and the VIA K8T800. There were several reviews that indicated this, including one at Anand tech, I believe.

There are several others based on the 755, the only down side to the one I slected is there are only two memory slots, which means I had to get two 512 sims to get to one gig of memory, but that should be adequate.

I am using a Gigabyte K8NNXP with my AMD 64 and it rocks. It's not cheap but it is very stable and has all the options I was looking for.

the asrock board (they are a division of assu) with the sis755 chipset is among the best values in a64 boards, but best board depends on features. What do you want onboard and what do you have cards for? Do you want ot overclock? Raid, onboard sound...
