what is best format for external HD

So I just purchase an SAMSUNG F1 HD103UJ that I would like to use as an external HD. I want both my Mac and Windows to be able to read/write to it. I know Fat32 is an option but I have movie files over 4 gig that I would like to store on the HD. What format would you recommend in this case?

FAT32 is your best bet.

NTFS would be next choice since Macs can read NTFS. There is a plugin for Mac you can get that will let you write NTFS but i don't recall the name...

I did some research and found an article that suggested ext2 linux format. Anyone have any experience with that?
