what is best fan on market right now?

What was your old CPU. The XP2100+ draws 63 watts @ idle and 72 watts under full load. (Voltage x amperage = watts) The greater the wattage used; the greater the heat generated. The old Tbird 1.4 used about 1 or 2 more watts. Remember it was known as a very hot processor. To get it down to 39 C will take a very fast and loud fan. Also each different heat sink has the effecency charastic where more air passing over it will not continue to lower temperatures. Sorry not much help. I solved my problems by using a 92mm fan on a PAL 8045. You can do this because the PAL sucks over HS rather than blowing. Was able to get same CFM at a much lower RPM which equated to a lower and very acceptable sound level.

The Thermaltake Dragon Orb3 beats every other cooler out there according to tests I've seen. It's a 7,000 rpm fan that moves 39CFM and is very inexpensive.

Orb coolers are the worste coolers out there. The only reason it cools at all is the 7000rpm fans. Noisy junk. PLEASE don't waste your money on one. Get a Thermalright AX-7 and a quiet 80mm fan, like a Panaflo H1A and you'll be set.

=0! They are moderately effective at best! And even with that, they arent worth the performance/price/noise ratio!

Yes they can be cheap for like $15, but you can buy an svc gc-68 for $6 and that would outperform a v7 (not +) and nearly everything else thermaltake makes...

I second that, for $25-$30, there isnt a better hsf than the ax-7

I read that it performed well too when it just came out (a year ago) and got it for my now deceased 1.4 T-Bird (more about that later) and while it did cool way better than a Volcano2 the T-Bird (which is only a bit hotter than the 2100+) was still 47-51c at a case temp of 31c. And on top of that the clip is extremely tight, which led to the demíse of the T-Bird as I was a bit too fast when I installed it in a new mobo, you need to be extremely careful when installing that hsf because of it's weight and the tightness of the clip. And it was noisy, very noisy, switching to a PAL8045 with a 37db fan and two other 37db case-fans was a definite improvement in noise! (compared to the DO3 and two pretty silent case-fans)

I'd recommend the AX-7 too as I've heard it should be very good, or the PAL8045 as I have one myself and it cools well with not so fast (=loud) fans.

i cant go back to a screamer. i use to have a 7k rpm on my sk-6....i could not take the noise any longer...i used a fan adapter and put a 80mm on it...
