what is best antec case?

SX1040BII... Good size, not expensive, comes with a 400W PSU... Room for four case fans (comes with a pair in the rear) solid build and looks good. I don't bother with the windows since they don't do anything for the performance of a system. I'd rather invest that money in either a larger PSU (although 400W is more than enough until you want the 6800 series video cards :disgust: ), larger hard drive, extra case fan, or something I'll actually use/appreciate.

If I'm not using that Antec tower for a build, chances are, I'm getting a Coolermaster case...

Plus 1080 AMG. Great for Raid setups. Comes with a TruePower 430W PSU. Lots of fan spaces including one on the side panel. Has a removable filter you can clean on the front of the case for the in-flow fans. Sturdy steel construction. Lockable front panel so no one can open the drives if you wish.

I like either the 3700 BQE or the new 2650 BQE (smaller version of 3700).

Both with 350W PSU, 120mm rear fan, and QUIET.

The 2650 is $66 shipped on Pricegrabber. Bargain!

I really like the 2650BQE because of the extra's like the pci tooless plastic thingys and the little box for extra screws behind. But the 8cm intake fan slot is below the 3.5 diskcage which is detrimental to cooling.

my personal antec favorite is the super lanboy. like akira said, if i'm not using an antec, then i'm using a cooler master.

I also love my 1080AMG Plus, but it's probably not ideal if you plan on taking it to LAN parties and the like. It is huge and pretty heavy. Perfect for me though 🙂.

Cheapest Sonata I've been able to find is $100. I love it but it doesn't really qualify as "bang for buck."

That's why I recommend the BQE's. Good looks, better cooling potential, cheaper.

I have the superlanboy. Its very light. The only gripe i have had with it is that the screws holding the pci slot covers strip too easily. They are in tight, and if you arent careful with the phillips head driver, and slip, its almost all over. That was a big scare cause i dont own a drill to drill out the dead screw. If you have to move your case around a lot, SuperLanboy is good for that.

I would say any Antec case that comes with a good PS is worth your money ... you get a well made case and a performance proven PSU ... what more can you need from a case around 100 bucks

Chiming in... I just bought the Performance 3700AMB, similar to the BQE but without a few of the ultra-silent options; it still has rubber grommets for all the drive bays, and its hard drive cage is parallel to the case which to me helps for the air flow from the front fan. It's a bit on the heavy side, though, as I found out when I had to run to the bus stop with the box. 🙂

But ultimately, it depends on your needs; how many components will be installed? What are the power requirements? Maybe a model that comes without a PSU will do fine for a smaller number of components and allows you to get a more powerful PSU seperately.

3700BQE, I've got one, it's not silent, but lets put it this way, it's not loud by a long shot, I have mine in my bedroom, and even when i'm sleeping it's just a soft, consistant WHISPER 🙂 It's huge too, lotsa room.
