What is Best 8x AGP card that is readily available?

The System in my Sig didn't cost me a penny , and my mom thought it would be nice to get me some new RAM and spent some decent money on it I'm sure (2 gig OCZ dual channel kit). I wasn't planning on spending any money on the machine because I want to upgrade to some newer dual core goodness. But I figure I can put some money in this machine $200-$400 for a nice video card and give it to my brother when I upgrade.
Anyhow , I'm a newegg shopper and I saw this.

and it's looking pretty nice...but I haven't seen anything else out there that has the AGP8x interface...and I can't find the XT PE version anywhere....anyone got any opinions. And maybe a link or two to point me in the right direction....the thing that was cool about this or so I thought , was that my rig has a liquid cooling setup in it , and they make a cool liquid cooling setup for this card, which would be nice for overclocking it. I dunno , but I need some help in shopping.
 
There's not a whole lot out there for AGP these days.

But the x800xt, the PE versions
the x850xt and PE versions
nVidia offers the 7800GS and the 6800GS

The 7800GS and the X850XT are the best.

Anyone know where I can find an x850xt? AGP8x version. Link would be great.

I've not been able to find one. Unless I want to spend like $500 and that's a little silly wouldn't ya say?
 
it got quite a few bad reviews though of it not running at the speeds advertised. That's exactly what I'm thinking about...but the ATI one shows a core speed of 500 mhz and memory speed of 500 mhz (1080 mhz effective) what's that mean? That it is capable of being overclocked to that point?
I thought that I'd spend the extra money to get the liquid cooling kit for the ATI card (my little brother thinks it's so cool) and overclock it a bit. That would last him for a while.
I have to upgrade it though , because I'm giving the x700pro to my wife's computer.

If something's wrong with the 7800GS eVGA will replace it, that's nothing to worry about.
The X850XT is clocked 520/1080, the memory being clocked at 540 MHz but having an effective frequency of double that (1080 MHz). However, dont get the X850XT as the 7800GS easily outperforms it AND features Shader Model 3.0.

Remember when looking at that, that comparison is a comparison of the stock X850XT (520/1080) to the stock 7800GS (375/1200). The eVGA 7800GS I showed comes 460/1350 out of the box.

No, its considerably slower; the one he listed is stock, 375/1200, the one I listed is heavily overclocked @ 460/1350.

Remember, those are pure specs, and performance is usually determined in a much more complex manner than that.

No, click the link for the specs, but it shouldn't be too difficult to overclock it manually anyway.

Here's a review of the eVGA 7800 GS CO Superlocked if any of you are interested, to see how it stacks up against the X800/X850 XT PE.
 
You're about a month too late!! Microcenter had that card for 189.99 AR last month. Right now the best card to get is probably the 7800GS unless microcenter is going to have that deal again soon.
 
I ordered a eVGA 7800GS CO Superclock video card from ZZF. It arrived while I was at work today. Cant wait to get home to open it up. Its better than the x850XT/PE in most games except FEAR according to the benchmarks I've seen. Its replacing a ATI 9800Pro 256 card. Wanted to get a card that'll get me by till I can build a new system (sometime this year). Then it'll get passed onto my daughter who doesnt do heavy gaming so should get a couple years worth of use out of it. I havent seen any posting of problems with this card. So far all the professional reviewers are giving it best AGP card status.
