what is auto convergence?

the boy and i have been looking into purchasing a rear projection tv (ok, more him than me 😉). he has his eye on this 46 inch toshiba but the reviews seem to say that it has poor autoconvergence.

what does that mean? 😕
 
the red blue and green guns have to be aligned and newer projection tv's can do it automatically instead of like before where you had to adjust it in a menu.

Poor autoconvergence is not a good thing after a while you may see poor coloration and what appears to be ghost around objectrs on the screen. It used to be when you bought a set someone would have to come in and align the guns for you after shipping. I would consider another unit.
