What is audio cdr?

Is audio cdr the same as regular cdr, except it is meant to be used to burn music ONLY? can it be burned by regular cd writers?
 
Audio cdr's will work ok in your pc. But they are made for the home burner system that's not a pc. Like those stand alone Philips units. The stand alone units can not burn regular cdr's. They are NOT worth the extra $$$ to buy.

NO! The only difference between an &quot;audio&quot; CDR and a &quot;data&quot; CDR is that a small royalty is paid to the music recording industry for each blank disc sold. A small bit of code is written to a part of the blank disc that can't be written to (by a burner) in order for stereo component CD recorders to verify that the royalty has been paid. A computer CDR drive just ignores that code.

They don't burn better or sound better. They just cost more.
