is it basically overclocking set on auto? at what temp does the gpu the clock? is it better to o/c manually or use the overdrive?

over clock manualy, you will get much higher overclocks. the overdrive feature sets you gpu clock higher if your core temp is lower. however you will have to tell us what card you have (9600xt/9800xt) before we can tell you the temp/clock ratio

I have a 9800XT . . . Overdrive automatically overclocks the GPU's core from a minimum of 418Mhz to ~450 (i think). If it gets too hot, it is throttled back to 418.

i believe you have to get below 60C to see near maximum o/c

Finally, the XT runs HOT - up to 80C (or more); if you FORCE a big O/C (disabling Overdrive), you may get a theermal meltdown.

I would NOT attempt a permanent O/C with an XT UNless i was SURE of my VGA cooler. 😉
