My uncle used to have an Envoy and thought it was pretty good. From the commercials I've seen they seem to have nice features. Don't know much of their history though. Any here own them? what do you think of them?

Are you looking specifically at the Envoy? aka used...

the engine is a torque beast... and had good reliability that i remember...

interior is meh...

they suck gas like a hooker in front of a pile of blow...

Its almost the prototypical 2000's GM
Mediocre but not great, cheap used with NA depreciation and if you bought it new you have to suck up a big loss.

GM's fixing their cars and rep slowly 'slower than Ford anyway' I'd consider most Fords nowadays but still leary of certain GM but the list is a lot smaller than 5 yrs ago

GM SUVs generally have a pretty good drivetrain, interior quality is ok, nothing to write home about. I think they compete well with other mid size and full size SUVs from other manufacturers.

I had a '99 S10 Blazer in 2007 it rolled over 130k miles and started falling apart, the radiator, water pump, thermostat and heater core all went out within about 6 months. The ball joints, tie rod ends, and idler arms needed to be replaced along with the tires that were destroyed. The fuel pump quit, the multifunction switch for the lights had a glitch and the handles to adjust the angle of the seat back broke all right around 130k miles. I traded it in, drove a Toyota for a couple years and now I'm driving a Chevy Astro, which shares a lot of parts with the Blazer I had so much trouble with if that tells you anything. As much as I don't want to be the Chevy fan boy, parts are cheap and they are easy to work on, my Toyota was neither.

I don't have any direct experience, but it seems like you hear about problematic automatic trannys on full size GMs much more often than Ford..

Ford interior is better for the most part, but a lot of this is model specific...

Those are nice cars, the Acadias and their clones.

GM SUV's in general, if you're talking the bigger Tahoe and Suburban, are better-made as far as fit and finish goes, and their drivetrains have always been more reliable. Not to mention they get better gas mileage.

I don't care what the ratings are, if you ask people in the real world, Expeditions get terrible mileage.

Now, for the smaller SUV's, the Explorer is hard to beat.
