What is an APO?

I could probably find the answer to this on Google, but I was wondering why it is mentioned so often in eBay auctions as in many sellers won't ship to an APO address? So what is an APO address and wouldn't a seller want to ship to an APO address?

Thanks,

Mcurphy

army post office

NPO is navy post office

it is just like sending mail to anybody else, but the post office gives it to the military who then takes it from the US to the overseas base or ship

i don't know why they would decline to sell to soldiers, i think the rates don't reflect the leg that the military pays for , ie the overseas part, so i dunno

maybe they think it is hard to track down deadbeat soldiers? it isn't if you contact their command, getting in trouble for debt/not paying bills is bad juju in the military

Thanks for the insight! So do you think maybe it is because they wouldn't be able to track the shipment, or maybe even for insurance reasons?

The only carrier able to ship to an APO/FPO addres is the US Postal Service. Companies that use UPS and FedEx cannot ship to APO. Also, you have full out customs forms. It requires a little more work.

I think we are worth it though 🙂
