We have to compare two cars for my technical writing class and I'm not a big car guy. We've ultimately decided to compare a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla to a Chevy Malibu, Ford Focus, perhaps even the Pontiac G6.

We're working in groups and my partner has already said that he wants to do the Asian car, so I am left to find a car that can compete with it and has the same price-range. ($15k to $20k).

You getting your demo cars from the factory or via fleet (rental, etc)? Or are you going to fake some test drives at the dealership?

(Europeans) MINI cooper. Or VW Golf/Jetta.

(Americans) Ford Focus. Mazda 3.

Why not? Its a good little car, reliable, inexpensive, and good on gas. Of course, if your goal in life is to always have an H on your car, then its no good.

Do the really interesting thing, instead of taking the easy (and crappier ) way. Take a European car which REALLY compares to the Civic, like the Renault Clio/Mégane, or the Skoda Felicia/Octavia...
