What is Adam (Bioshock)?

What exactly is it? How's it relate to plasmids and your overall health?

I didn't really understand the relationship the way it was explained in the game.

Adam is the stems cells that the special slugs produce while inside the Little Sisters. It's what allows the inhabitants of Rapture to "rewrite" their genetic code to get their plasmid powers.

One or two of the recordings that you pick up explains this.

You basically use it as currency to buy new plasmids, tonics, and slots to put them in.

I explained it in the first post. Plasmids are derived from adam. Adam are stem cells that can replace your own cells. They are genetically coded to give you abilities known as plasmids.
