What is Active PFC?

I'm looking around for a new powersupply and I see that some models come with active pfc. What is it? Is it worth the extra 20 bucks? Thanks

I didn't know either and was wondering the otherday, at that point was to preoccupied to do a search, so thanks for bringing it up. Here is what I found.

PFC is adding a capacitance to a circuit to bring the power factor back closer to the ideal. An inductive load causes an increase in the Amps being drawn from the source, but at no benefit as far as power is concerned. PFC corrects this so that you don't draw extra power.

There are a lot of physics to do with it, and you need to understand AC and phase angles and such. Personally I don't think it matters on a 250-300 watt load that much anyways, but I guess every bit of power you save is ok. The big winners are the power companies.
