What is a Vermitious Knid?

A Vermicious Knid is from Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and refers to snake-like creatures that took over Hotel USA before the elevator managed to arrive, and ate a whole ship-load of astronauts, maids, bellboys, and concierges.
