What is a tracker?

Hmmm, and now it is running fine. I dont know what happened.

At any rate, can someone explain how the trackers work and if mine is working?

a tracker is basically a site that keeps track of a bunch of torrent downloads. say I'm downloading the update to HoMM5, and there are 300 seeds and 8000 peers around the world. The tracker keeps track of all these seeds and peers so that they can connect to one another easily.

at least, that's what I thought it was.
