That's pretty much it. Some people mistakenly believe that you should fire continuously and waste ammo aiming at nothing in particular. This is not the case. Controlled fire in a random interval which keeps the enemy pinned down and sufficiently unable to attack back is the order of the day.

that is why its called an assault rifle. it's only long enough to be mildly accurate because you're not sharpshooting, you're just trying to keep the enemy pinned down with covering fire while you assualt their position.
