What is a real mode configuration file?

I was told to delete any real mode configuration file on my computer. What and where are these files, and how do you delete them.

This is just a guess, but I reckon the person who told you this is referring to any 16 bit configuration file.
This would include config.sys and autoexec.bat, and Im pretty sure system.ini as well.
Im not sure if deleting them is the brightest idea however.
What you could do is just edit them and comment out any lines.
