Im looking for a quiet 6800GT. Still needs to have a fan as I intend to OC it a bit, but I dont want this thing to sound like a jet engine. Currently using a 9800 Pro. Id settle for a HIS X800 XL but those are impossible to find here in canada.

leadtek is the quitest, but if you want quiet, i would buy one and then an aftermarket heatsink, if you are willing so spend some money youll get quieter and a better OC

The MSI 6800GT is supposed to be very quiet, the review I linked to says that it is "nearly silent" at 30dB. That is very subjective though because silent can mean different things to people. I think anything under 25 dB is nearly silent. My MSI 6800GT has the loudest fan in my PC (the rest of my components are VERY quiet), so I think it's loud. The Leadtek, as others mentioned, is supposed to be very quiet also. However, if you want the card even quieter, you will have to install either a Zalman VF700 or Arctic Silencer.

EDIT: I would also like to mention that the MSI 6800GT has a variable fan controller, so that's a great feature for overclockers.

Seen this link too many times... that Gigabyte card has a fan on it. For silence, pick your favorite brand then pop on a vf700

I Have used both the Zalman VF700 and NV Silencer 5 and the Zalman is even more dead silent than the Silencer.

Seriously.

fair enough. i mean that the 6800gt and nv5 is quieter than my hd and thermalright xp-90 with slow fan so it's inaudible is a relatively quiet machine

Not only is the Leadtek 6800GT very quiet it also reportedly OC's to Ultra and beyond with ease while mainting low temps. Seems to be the best OCing 6800GT, and it's actually one of the cheaper models. Not cheapest by any means, but only $20 more than the Evga (if were talking PCI-E, in AGP i think it's ~$5 more.) Definitely a great buy.
