What is a nice, QUIET, black case?

There's not many towers I can stand... but something nice in black may be tolerable.

Impression IM-21
I've recently come across this case and I seem to like it a bit... :) It would match my Dell Trinitron monitor. Not too expensive but doesn't come with a PSU.

Then there's the Antec Sonata... fair chunk more expensive than I was planning to go, but has a hefty power supply, a 120mm fan and is supposed to be pretty darned quiet! That's important to me... is it worth double the price of a decent case (or triple the price of a cheap-o case?) :p

QUIET out of the box is important to me....
Under $75USD much preferred! Any suggestions?

I don't like acrylic front panels they are a PITA (scratches, fingerprints, cracking around screw holes, etc.... Check out the new Athenatech 503 series on newegg.

Yeah acrylic panels suck! I have it on my older case and its scratched and cracked. Anyway, CompUSA (In Wilmington, DE anyway) has a case just like that. But its around $170 I think...

Anyone LIKE the case? I think it's nice-looking.... better than most of the cases with far too many curves and lines and other over-hyped things.

The Impresion looks almost identical to the AMS g-mono cases and lots of others - too starkly industrial for my taste. The Athenatech 503 series cases I mentioned don't have much frippery at all - very clean design w/o the drawbacks of an acrylic front panel. Have you looked at the pix on newegg?

It's the exact same case, right down to every nuance. Nice to know I have at least *two* choices to get the exact same thing... I can go with whichever is cheaper or more available. :)

Gosh it's a nice case... here's another review:

I love them.... In fact, I bought one that is likely the same. Super Talent CF-2029 (blue/silver) at ewiz.com...... I absolutely love it. The case is sturdy, the high closs paint coating make it look beatiful (I suggest you apply also some wax/sealant to keep free form fingertips. I applied it some NuFinish to protect the paint)

Working inside was a joy, and the front panel made it a big winner for me (firewire standard, plus you can't beat the location of the ports.....) The blue case has a BLUE LED, so at night all the front acryclic looks blueish....

My system has quietness as main objective, so the fornt fan I installed was an NMB 80 mm 18 CFm/17dBA.... the acrylic is nice, thick and strong. Be careful tightening the acrylic screws again, do not overtorque! This will avoid unneded stress for the acrylic.

The package was huge, as the case box came inside another huge box that had enough peanuts to fill the case box once it got empty......

Go for it!

Edit, check this therad where I was asking for something similar....

Look at the new Case Tek Super ATX case at newegg. Too bad you want black as the beige one is only $35. shipped. The black one is $60... Really nice design and heavy steel for that little money. Very similar to the Enermax 1018x series for considerably less.

Not a fan of the case you posted, bluemax. The acrylic, whether it holds up to abuse or not, looks ugly, IMO. Any of the Coolermaster cases are winners. :) I'd make sure you REALLY want a door on that puppy before buying. I had a door on my last case and it drove me nuts, even with the top bay accessable without opening the door!

Compucase 6919 is nice too

:D

I love mine, its the first QUALITY case I have ever owned, and my choice was exactly what I wanted. The 120mm fan in the back is quiet as a church mouse and the case is an Antec clone minus the door over the optical drives.
