What is a Mod-Wannabe?

I see this term being used alot. What does it mean and who does it refer to and why would it refer to someone?

If I told you that this post belongs in "Off Topic" and not in the "Video" forum I would be acting like a Mod Wannabe.

Isn't this in the wrong forum JK
I could name a mod wannabe. Actually he just makes useless replies to get his post count up. What do you call those ones?

Spammers!! Take this post, for example.

Actually it's called neffing.

Rules nazi 😀 . The Germans come off bad on the net, you also have the grammer nazi. I think you're right, nerfing is better terminology about someone trying to run their post count up. Spam is either comment off topic or one word/letter response.

kthxbye 😉

Edit: I'm surprised troll has such a negative meaning in comparison to other boards. I think a book on the lexicography of internet slang would be most interesting, but outdated in 2-3 weeks after printing.

Is a Mod-wannabe similar to an Anandtech-Staff-wannabe?

*cough* LE *cough*
Like this?
I always do it in a PM so I don't look like a tattle tale.

I posted a report like that in FI once, but when it appeared by the replies I got that I just came off as a tattle tale, I decided to subsequently start PMing reports like that. Apparently some people enjoy being seen like a tattle tale, however. 😕
