if its a copy its pirated!!!

Every time you install a fresh copy of windows it devirgins your HD with MSs spirit and each serial is entitled to personhood.

Copying a person is in fact illegal and violates the geneva convention and the prime directive.

do we have to go trough a clone war to figure this out?

Since it is a copy then it is an illegal install of windows.
Nope any cd/dvd of any os or programm is a copy, it's the serial number that makes it legal not the installation media, having windows installed from a store bought legal installation media doesn't make your os legal only after activation does it become legal.

It's weird to me that a computer operating system is so often a topic of discussion. I understand it in specific tech forums, but it seems all over the place. I don't even know what windows does other than letting me move files around and turn up the speaker volume. That's not very exciting. :|

What is it called?

Preinstalled is a Corporate copy. Or Bloat-Ware with all the added software they get paid to include. And if you do not get an install disk with the computer it is called suicide-Install.

congratulations, it works.

what it mostly does is act as the foundation for all the things you actually want a computer to do.
