What is a good VPN software for home use?

I'm tring to set up a home VPN so i can access my computers form outside, what is a good program to use...

The OS that Im running on the server is Win98 on a Dell P2/300, the server is also networked to a HP P3/700 running WinME and a Compaq C/400 running WinXP. I want to install the VPN software on the Server which has a direct connection to a Cable Modem. The lappy that I will connect with is running WinME.
 
that OS is the laptop running?

linux + freeswan

I think win2000 has some VPN stuff build into it, but I think it is really for 2k --> 2k
