What is a good Voice/Speech Recognition software app?

I would like to get this for my son, Dragon "Naturally Speaking", IBM "Via Voice" ect..
Are they any good?

I purchased Dragon "Naturally Speaking" a couple months ago and still can't get the thing to work. I bought the best mic-headphone set to improve the quality and still nothing. So I called the tech support hotline and the moron told me there was no guarantee the product would work for me. So I think it was a waste of money.

I have tried it and it didnt work well for me (DNS), but my boss uses it and swears by it. It must be a bit variable, so i wouldnt buy without having a go with it first

I bought DN Speaking about a year ago and it was the old version (3.0). After learning to position the mic correctly and going through the training I can sometimes read whole paragraphs without error. Its great!
