I was originally planning to get a geforce3 vid card when I built my new computer, but I have since decided to get a 21 inch monitor and not get a geforce3 (thus saving money that can be used for the monitor). What vid card will allow me to play most of the games on the market right now, and will also allow good dvd playback? Oh and my choice for a monitor is the sony g520. Is that a good choice for a 21 inch monitor, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Yes, that's an excellent choice for a monitor. A good DVD and game playing video card would be the 64MB ATI RADEON.

2nd vote for the radeon.
Little overclocking can reach geforce2ultra speeds and has far superior dvd and 2d image quality since it has a first rate RAMDAC.

Newegg has it for $160 shipped. Truthfully though, I am considering returning mine that I've had for a week now. There are certain games (diablo II) that it won't play in 3D and it seems glitchy (is that a word?). Everytime I turn on the computer the size of the screen picture has changed and I couldn't get the video in to work. There is a plethora of drivers available (too many) and most of them are beta versions. I do agree that the DVD playback is exceptional and the graphics are better than my other computer which has a Geforce 2 MX. I just want a card that works the way it should.
