What is a good temp for me?

I am using:

MSI ECS k7vza amd mobo 1.2ghz
radeon 9500 pro
neither has been OC'd.
-- also have an Antec true 430watt psu (has been known to run a little hotter than others)

I have 1 fan beside the PSU and i have just left the pc running in windows for 20 mins, and in BIOS, my temperature readings are:

System temp 33C
CPU temp 45C

Is this too hot for doing basically nothing at all? What should my temp readings be at? Do I need another fan?

I am asking because I have been getting crashes since I have installed my new PSU which has been running hotter than my last one.

Each mobo reads CPU temps differently, and the temperature can change depending on a number of outside factors, but as rule of thumb, anything under 60C is okay. 45 C is a good temperature for an AMD processor, especially for the case temp that you have (mine usually runs around 25 C). So your CPU *seems* fine; how many fans are in the new PSU (as I recall that model has two, correct?) It could just be a flaky PSU, regardless of temperature.

... how do i figure out whether this is a "flaky" PSU? I just bought this thing for 80$ and i'd hate to have to RMA it. Any test i can do? would you like my voltage readings?

Yes this PSU has 2 fans.

Could 45C in itself on the CPU cause the computer to crash?
Should i add another case fan?

45 C should not cause the computer to crash. Whether or not yet another case fan is entirely up to you but I can I don't believe that heat is causing your problems. What the temperatures are you getting when you're running full load?

not sure but i can check it out now. i just cleaned out my heatsink which was caked with dust.

i know know how to see temps in bios, but how in windows? ive seen it before but i forget where to look
