I need some nice headphones for gaming, music, and maybe movies. Price range is $50-60 (I'm not paying a hundred bucks for a pair of headphones.) How are these?

I got the pc150's. They're pretty comfortable, but they start out a little tight so you gotta wear them in. Sound quality is pretty average but fine for games. The mic works great and I got the headset specifically for games since it seems to be the best one around. For music and other stuff I use my klipsch 5.1's

I've heard good things about the HD497s. Also in that price range, check out the Grado SR60s.

HI
I owned a pair of Sennheiser headphones for 15 plus years. I finally wore them out!!! The nice thing about Sennheiser is you can buy replacement parts on line (cables, pads, etc)
And, most of the Sennheiser headphones can be repaired.
I understand the logic of "if it's broke, toss them and buy new." But, the ability to repair is a quality that to me means a quality product.

You get what you pay for.If you have a $50 head then buy $50 headphones :)

Besides gaming, music & movies what else would headphones be used for?
Some people are simply amazing.

So in other words, you have nothing to contribute, and no reason to post other than to ridicule the OP. To steal a quote from ATOT, Who were you before you were banned?

SonicIce I bought a set of Kinyo 5.1's for $50 a while back from Newegg. I use them mostly for gaming, and they are excellent in that regard. Not sure how much to attribute to the Audigy2 ZS and EAX 3 in game, but the directional effect is amazing. Instead of just hearing the sound on one side of your head or the other, you actually track a guy walking all the way around you, and you can pinpoint his exact location even if he's behind you and off to the left or right a few paces or whatever. It definately is much better than a 2 speaker headphone set (for gaming). Just be ready for the cheating accusations when you hear a guy before he comes around the corner behind you and pop him as soon as his head sticks out.

The Kinyo's are ok for music, but if music was more important to me than gaming, I would have probably gotten regular headphones with 2 very nice speakers instead of the Kinyo's. The sound could be richer. Crisp and clear, nice bass, but the sound just doesn't seem "full" enough. That's the best I can describe it, not being an audiophile.

Then again, they sounded great to me until I hooked up my Logitech Z-5300's, so maybe they'll sound nice enough for you.

Hey sonny boy,My post contributed a lot more than your's did, wich started off with a personal attack.
I implied that you get what you pay for an that is true concerning headphones. The OP stated his uses for headphones he's eeking

My additional reply was on target and appropriate. There are no other uses for headphones other than what he listed.(not that I expect you to grasp that portion)
In your post you go on about some el cheapo set of gaming headphones that you yourself say suck for music & movies.
Hence your post is practically useless other than serving as a front to attack me.

And by the way,my Denon 750's serve me perfectly for hearing where an opponent player is coming from. And yes, they are great headphones for music and movies too.How about them apples sonny boy?
Decent headphones that cover all the bases well are going to cost you well over $100.
Like I say to my motorcycling brethren:"Gotta $50 head buy a $50 helmet" and the same goes for headphones & monitors in regards to computers and setereo systems.
Afterall it's what you are experiencing ... not the case,CPU,PSU,Amp,tuner or whatever.
The output devices are what's most important. Those are what you see & hear.Doesn't take a genius to realize that now does it?

I'll use the phones for games like UT2004, Farcry, Doom 3, Half-Life 2, and some music. I wish there was a store that let me try them out and see whats comfortable and sounds good. The HD497's?

Go with Sennheisers. They are very nice. I bought a pair of PMX 60s for the mid 20's on amazon and loved
them so much I bought a second pair to leave at work($19.50)

I got them for my Ipod and I am very happy. I lost my apple ear buds so I got a pair of sennheiser buds for $15.00. Love them too. Great sound and comfortable.

Great quality for the price. I am sure the higher models on their line carry just as great sound and quality.

For the price the Senn 497s are pretty nice.

I've been using a set of 497s for years. Thinking of getting another pair or the HD-555s.
