What is a good - not great - sound card for CUSL2-C?

I'm looking for a good sound card that doesn't have
problems with this board. Any suggestions?

The soundblaster live value oem works just fine in both of mine. Running 98SE. Use slot 6 and assign slot 6 to use irq 5 in bios. In device manager set sb16 emulation to share irq 7 with lpt1. My two cents.

Pick up a Guillemot Maxi Sound Muse for just over $20, or look into the Phillips "EDGE" line at BB or CompUSuck.

They are great boards for the money!

I'm wondering the same thing; good not great, trouble free audio card for CUSL2-C.
Does an Aopen AW744 work well under Win98(first edition) on this board?

Using a sblive in slot 3.
Got no problems at all.

i like my santa cruz ...but i would have to vote for the sblive value too....you can prolly get it for 40 bucks...then download liveware 3.0 and install it instead of the software that comes with it

From my experience, ANY sound card works fine with CUSL-C... It depends more on which OS you're using. If you're using W9x, Areal-based sound cards (MX300, SQ2500, etc.) will give you the best bang for the buck, IMO. Great sound quality & you can find one for around $25 on the FS/FT forum. For W2K, my recommendation would be the SB Live value... Good luck.

it's a good little board. it's flaw is the 815ep chipset.

I recently built a CUSL2-C for my neighbor and we put an AOpen AW744 Pro sound card in it, w/ no issues. Sound, coupled to the Boston Acoustics BA4800 is very good. My only gripe w/ the software for the AW744 is it's pretty basic, compared to cards such as the SBLive, Acoustic Edge or Santa Cruz.
