I am getting a lot of different answers on the internet, thought I would get yalls opinions please

Also, what is best .... seperate surge arrestor or UPS with built in surge arrestor ??

I am reading, you can use a surge arrestor and a ups but they can only be hooked up one way, one before the other

Well the laptop should have it's own battery so you could buy a smaller UPS for just the monitor. Typically you only need the UPS to run for a few minutes to provide enough time to shutdown the system. A 450VA-650VA should be gracious plenty for that, even with the laptop included. I like APC, but CyberPower and TrippLite also make good units. The Amazon basic ones get good reviews from owners as well. I don't run a separate surge protector on any of mine, I just use what is built in to the UPS.
