i need to lower the bit rate to send some files to a friend of mine via e-mail. I know this sounds fishy but i have a friend who is in the Navy and wanted me to send him a couple songs from some of the CD's he let me borrow while he was gone. Thanks
CDex can do it. In the encoder section, change the bitrate to what you want. I recommend getting the latest version of LAME first; extract the lame_enc.dll file to the CDEX folder, overwriting the file already there.
Then, under the Convert menu is the option to Re-encode Compressed Audio Files. This'll do what you need.
How low of a bitrate are you looking to convert these to? I've read that LAME doesn't do too well at very low bitrates.
And what kind of device is this going to be played on?
