What is a good media player nowadays? Something other than Winamp!

I've been trying to find a good general purpose media player. Winamp has been pretty good, but I'm really disappointed with Winamp 3, since it won't even play movies properly on my computer. The new Windows Media Player 9 is far superior to previous versions, but still doesn't allow me much for configuration options, and still has way too much crap and can get confusing.

What do you use, and why?

i don;t like real player (real one), but there are some things that will only play using it. I actually like the file player that came bundled with my ATI card. It works great for most all avi, & mpeg formats and I use it the most. I play most divx files with the divx player and wmv files with windows media player.

You can't go wrong with Zoomplayer. Its a bit tricky to set up filters at first...but its a great media player, and very configurable.

How is WMP 9 confusing? Just turn off all the options to upgrade, spyware, etc. Besides, it now supports awesome sound compression and codecs.

Granted, it's not rocket science, but anytime a piece of software tries to incorporate radio, CD burning, ripping, "premium" services, not to mention some other stuff, it can get a bit overwhelming. WMP9 does have many features I like, such as folder monitering, and I do prefer it over Winamp3.

i stick to winamp 2.81

and use WMP8 (will get 9 when can be bothered downloading) for anything Winamp doesnt do.

supposably the creative jukebox thing that comes with creative cards is pretty good, but never felt the need to bother with it, for me winamp is perfect for my mp3/ogg, and wmp for the rest.
