Basically I'm wanting "Language for dummies in my car to listen to as I drive to work"

any suggestions?

Get those Rosetta Stone CDs they advertise on TV. That's what the government uses to train their astronaut spies.

Rosetta is more of a 'I need to have a basic framework in a couple days/weeks and I'll learn the rest later' kind of program. If you're serious my vote goes to Pimsleur WITH supplemental reading materials. I cannot recommend specific texts for any language other than Spanish or Japanese.
