My desk is falling apart. The handles are breaking and the bottom of the drawers are caving in. I need to burn it. So I need a new computer desk. What are some good clean looking computer desks that are under $200? Thanks in advance.

Ikea. Got mine for $129.

how sturdy are ikea desks? i'm guessing they're MDF or some kind of composite stuff, not real wood, which is fine with me, but it's gotta take some weight.

i'm in the market for a new corner desk atm, but it's hard to find a decent one that's not crazy expensive.

I didn't buy one of the composite ones, instead I bought one with just metal legs and a somewhat sturdy top. Think it is called Frederick or something. It works very good for the price.

jerker isn't being produced anymore, is it?

when I was dumping mine a couple years ago, my brother in law offered to buy it off me for replacement parts for his.

I felt like it was too deep... either I put the monitors like 4' from my face or the back half of the desk becomes an unused dust magnet.

I disagree. The T-Legs are actually sturdier than the legs at each corner.

I love my Ikea corner desk. No drawers or anything, but it's durable, sturdy, and it was fairly cheap.

MDF can handle weight.

Corner desks are sort of a niche market. Either it's the ilk of the earth or the high rollers.

I tend to roll my own though. Hard to keep it below $200 though.

I've used that one for about .. 2-3 years now and I love it. Very sturdy/solid, good amount of desk space. The only downside is I managed to break the keyboard tray by sheering some metal wheels off their mounts. Really that was my fault by bearing my weight on it, rather than an actual fault of the desk. I did fix it, though, and it's working again no problem.

MDF would be an upgrade. Most Ikea stuff is particle board. I've seen a few solid beech and birch items but they are not common. Mostly just particle board with veneer. The Galant tables have steel frames underneath so they are stronger.

Check the boxes to make sure you have everything before you leave if you live far away...Going back for missing parts is no fun if you live quite far.
