I have had a Plextor 12/4/32 CDRW for about a year now and all I can say is, IT ROCKS!

Go with a Plextor model.

Lite-On 2410. I prefer 1610 Plextor for its quality, but Lite-On 2410 is difinitely better at copying SD2. Not that its useful at anything other than making illegal copies of games.

Yes you're. This is not what CD recorders capable of breaking through the latest copy protection is used for although. Almost all the modern games are copy protected with SD2 or stronger method. Games is probably the #1 piracy vicitm. High price softwares such as MS Office and Photoshop is much less likely to use copy protection than games, because people who really needs it actually buys it.

i've used both the Plextor 16/10/40 and the Lite-On 16/10/40.

i must say, both those burners are very nice. In terms of bang for the buck, i would go with the Lite-On.

you can get the LITE-ON LTR-24102B-01 24x10x40 CDRW - RETAIL for $102 shipped at newegg.

Staples has the Pacific Digital (rebadged lite on 16x10x40). I know it was on sale Black Friday, but think it still has a rebate. Should be well under $100. I have it and love it.

***EDIT---- NO rebate, they Have it for $109, but you can find a $25 or $30 off 100 coupon bringing it well under $100 for you and they have free shipping.

Plextors are supposed to be the best, but you will pay for it. Best deal I have heard of though is a Lite-on 12x10x32 w/ Burnproof for $67.00. Blue chippers? Rebaters?
