What's a good/cheap NIC card? It must be compatible with the AMD760 chipset- i have a NetgearFA311, but that doesnt work with the AMD760 (doh).

I think I have a spare 3com card...but I can't seem to find it, soo...time to look into a new one :)

I've used D-Link and Ovislink. The Ovislink is based on the 'Realtek' chip. I'm not sure about the D-Link. Both have been just fine on my VIA chipset boards.

Try anything you could find at staples... a linksys or a d-link. Good luck.

I have had very good luck with the Linksys LNE100tx. Very reliable and you can get one for $20 or less.

Gotta go with linksys. You can get a 10/100 for ~$10 if you look hard enough.

Comes with wake on lan as well as lifetime warranty.

The only difference you'll notice between it and a 3com is about the $30 you'll save on the linksys :)

Oh...and I hate 3coms drivers :D

newegg has this..."Linkskey" thing:

LINKSKEY (REALTEK CHIPSET) PCI ETHERNET CARD 10/100 LKF5100+ PCI Card

Is this the same as that linksys card...? (like a typo?) Or a completely different thing

No, Linkskey is not the same as Linksys.

I've had good success with Realtek-based network cards, but they're not the best in terms of performance. I would go with a Linksys card. They're about $20 at CompUSA, Staples, Best Buy, or the like. Good performance, low CPU utilization, and realtively cheap. Can't go wrong. ;)

go with Linksys I've had no problems with mine. I paid 15 bucks like a year and a half ago. It still works fine!

Some of mine are Aopen; the rest are just generic. All of them use a late revision Realtek 8139 chip; I've never had any trouble with them.

DFE-538TX - 10\100 - PNP - Wake On Lan
DFE-530TX - 10\100 - PNP - NWAY Auto-Negotiation

Either one is good, not sure what the NWAY Auto-Negotiation is, i have the DFE-538TX anyway, paid around $30 canadian.
