What is a good 754pin motherboard for under $70.00?

I need it to have an 8x AGP slot, 3-6 PCI slots and 3 dimm slots to support atleast 2gb of memory. No SATA drives are going to be used. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm on a tight budget, so I had to buy a 754. I could have bought a 939 for $120, but that was OEM. I also know that 939 mobos are more expensive the 754 mobos.

I wouldnt go socket 754 instead a socket 939 with AGP. 754 is dead you wont want to be stuck with a socket 754 processor.

It all depends on your needs. For many people 754 is more than adequate and will be for awhile.

754 isnt really dead. It's just the 64-bit processors will be moved away from it. I think the Semprons will still be S754.

What chipset should I go for, nForce or SiS? I have read in other forums where people have had bad luck with the nForce IDE drivers.

lol... the asus K8V-X isnt bad, thats what im using now, and zero complaints (except no pci bus locks)

if you want something to use i say this would be the ways to go, i hear there is an SE model but i havent read about it

There is and never was a reason to go S939, it's pointless other than Dual core and overclocking.

S939 will soon die, we will see a few speed bumps then AMD will move to socket M2.

S754 FTW

That is also one of the most expensive. Get the chaintech that zerocool recommended upthread. It has great oc features on the cheap.

The VNF3-250 is good. anything with nforce3 250 should be good. anandtech did some reviews, look for 754 round-ups 1, 2, and 3.
