I want to upgrade to a 19" monitor, preferably with a black case, but I'd like to know first what models anyone can recommend.

I have a pf790, great picture quality, if you dont want the viewsonic, get a sony g400, or a samsung 900nf...

I like the Samsung 900NF myself.
As good as the Sony G400, but cheaper.

The Viewsonics are also very nice, but tend to be a little pricey.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there is much difference between the PF790 and the E790?

Yeah...I don't think the E series are even flat screens.

The E series is Veiwsonic's entry level series.
The PF is the Pro series (PF = Professaionl Flat), they are flat screens, will go to higher resolutions/refresh rates, and have a smaller dot pitch (sharper image).

Quite a big difference actually. But then it depends on the person, some people are quite happy with entry level.

Some demand absolute minimum of 85Hz at 1600x1200 with a max of .22dp.

100Hz, .20dp preferred ;)

<< What are the Flatrons Like? >>

Very good,I`m using one(LG 915FT Plus flatron) it`s great at colour detail and sharp text with no aperture wires like on Trinitron & Diamondtron screens,it really depends on what type of monitor you want, if you want a high quality non-aperture grill type then it`s a good choice.
