What is a food runner?

There's a restaurant in my city that's hiring food runners for the holiday season. What exactly is a food runner?

Like a busser.

I think you take the food from the chefs and bring it to where it needs to be (obvious need in a buffet setting, but I'm not sure how it would be pertinent in a "order and serve" restaurant).

EDIT: After reading Mike's response, I feel stupid.

Of the various cafeteria positions I've had, food runner isn't too bad.

Drinks was the best, any of the dish cleaning jobs were the worst. Except being a puller, that wasn't too bad since I did not really have to participate in cleaning up the kitchen afterwards.
