my house is a good bit higher than my neighbors... high enough to where a fence won't block their house

what type of tree will grow large enough to block their house?

The paper company would like to know as well

What about big shrubs instead of actual trees

A fifty-foot-tall-concrete-block-wall-tree should do. ;)

Italian cypress trees grow fairly fast...Plant them close together, (maybe 2' between them) and in a couple of years, you'll have a nice green wall that doesn't shed during the winter...

Don't be ridiculous. A wooden fence will do just fine. Here is a picture of my neighbors house.

You should get one of those sheets David Copperfield uses to block huge objects when he makes them disappear.

Cedar works quite well.

Poplar grows very fast.

Willows grow fairly fast.

Create a slightly raised area for planting (maybe 2' or something) and they will reach the required height even faster :Q
Also, if you use bamboo, make sure to limit where it can grow, I think. IIRC it's quite good at spreading a bit.

Go to a local nursery and ask their advice and then buy the biggest pre-grown tree they will sell you. Follow their directions and plant the tree. It should take root and continue growing even bigger.

Be prepared to spend lots of $$ buying and transporting a large nursery tree.

Curtains?

Blinds/shades??

You want a big tree, to block a view???

Hmm, go to the middle of California, and dig up a Sequoia
tree, and bring it back home. ;)

Bamboo is like molasses in January compared to kudzu. If you want privacy just plant kudzu, your house will never be seen again.
