What is a fair price for mounting and balancing tires?

10 bucks a tire if you buy them at the place, unsure if you don't buy from them...i would call sears or something, but 15 would be the most i would pay for someone to do that, it's fairly easy to do..... so 60 bucks, but i think you can get it done for 40...

Call around. Most places have set prices for those services. I've found that the older garages may not have the computerized machines, but they can do the job pretty well balancing the tire& wheel on its side. If you can find a place that will do it for $10 a tire, they may have lifetime balance for another $5....then you can take it back to them in 3000 miles and get them adjusted.

About $10-20 ea. Bigger = more. Remember you need value stems and caps. (chrome?) those are about $5-7 ea then labor and balancing.

why won't you buy local? what if tire has a defect? what about insurance? usually mounting and balancing can be part of the price for free in you negotiate. I never pay tax or mount and balance way I negotiate...

I pay $8.50 a tire here @ a local shop. Check with them in your area. Also IIRC WalMart does it for $9.

Around here (Chicago burbs) Discount Tire does unlimited lifetime rotate / balance for free if you buy your tires there.

Mounting + Balancing is easy money if you have decent equipment. It shouldn't cost all too much, and I'd have to go with the $10-20 per as mentioned.

it takes about 45 minutes to do it right... I've been in the garage with my guy when it's done. $60-70 total including disposal of old tires, new stems, etc

We had this huge tire bin in the back of the shop, and once in a while you'd catch this ghetto looking van pull up and look for usable tires.

I recently purchased tires from Sam's club for both my Cavalier and our minivan. The prices were significantly cheaper and the whole package includes lifetime rotations and road hazard. I'll probably always buy from Sam's unless their policies and/or prices change dramatically.
