What is a decent frames per second average on battlefield 2

I'm getting the X1950XT, 2gigs of ram, and E6600 core duo.


Am I going to experience any stuttering or visual issues when playing bf2 and 2142 on maximum settings?



Also - what is considered a decent fps for Battlefield? Someone said you can't tell the difference if it's beyond 30, but I'm not so sure...





I really need to know since I'm ordering the computer very very soon.



(and no, I'm getting the 8800GTS)

Nope, the x1950xt is more than powerful enough to run BF2/2142 on maximum settings

I find anything above 40-45 smooth, but it's different for everyone

I need 40fps for racing games, 100+ for FPS's

Absolutely no problem running BF2/BF2142 with those specs. A 8800GTS can play BF2 at 1600x1200 4x AA with max details at over 100fps average. A X1950XT could probably do the same at 80+ fps (guessing there, but check out AT reviews or other ones from a few months ago). Both of those are easily fast enough.


Personally, I like to stay above 40fps in FPS games, but that isn't possible with more recent games at 1680x1050. I can tolerate some lower dips, and do so to run at native resolution. Other games like racing, Oblivion, simulation, etc I can deal with 25-30+ fps.

Damn, I can't wait to get a 8800GTS. Those things need to come down in price!

bf2142 should run over 50fps with that setup-its similar to mine. i use a 1280x1024 lcd monitor and enable aa and aniso 2x

some faster moving games-like ut2k4- i notice when frame rates get below 60-but with bf2-which is a much slower pace- i never notice until frames dip below 40 or so

I have an EVGA 7900GTX and I can play BF2 quite well. Max details and I get very playable framerates.
On paper it should be equal to an X1950XT but in practice it generally gets better performance across the board.

But not that much :Q
