I have the recommended heatsink and fan (retail box) for my 1.2ghz athlon installed. However, the chip seems to be running at around 50-58 degrees celcius. Is this a dangerous temp? Would another fan in the box remedy this? Nothing is overclocked- yet :).

i think if you're getting into the 60's that's when you should start noticing. there's a lot of things you can do to help lower your temps though. first off, whats your ambient temp?

I had my Vcore @ 1.76 so I thought I'd decreased it to 1.70. Anyone think it is a bad idea? Last night it was running at 58, now it's at 49/50.

m1ke101: My apartment is around 74/72... system temp is like 35 and now the processor temp is 50 w/ new voltage setting. I also took on of the side panels off for some ventilation.

I currently have an Athlon TB 1.2ghz @ 1.4ghz vcore is 1.65 in Iwill kk266R BIOS, but Sandra reads it as 1.73v. The cpu settings are 133 X 10.5. CPU temp is 97.2F/ 36.2C.. The mainboard temp is 77.7F / 25.4C. I'm using a Swiftech MC462 hsf and Enermax 431W ps. So far no problems....

Anything above 60 deg Celsius considered getting pretty hot. Ideally temps should be below 50 deg C when idle and a little above 50 when loaded.

ok cool... thx for all the info guyz.

hey rgf... did you get a good deal on those fans? if so where at? I think I just need a system fan. It is staying around 50 so I'm probably good to go but I'd rather it be lower.
