what is a cool new technology

so...i'm doing a paper for my MIS class for extra credit and i need to pick an emerging MIS trend or new technology; then i'll write a 5pg paper and give a 10min presenation. I cant really decide what technology would be cool to give a presentation on...any ideas?

so far the only idea i've come up with was giving something on new game ideas...i dunno

RFID is something we have already talked a lot about...

OLED sounds cool
UMPC sounds cool as well
procc. manufacturing will just leave everyone confused (this is an entry level course with many, many idiots)

holograms sounds pretty dern schweet
 
How 'bout medical nano-robots? The kinds they're trying to develop that would be entered into the bloodstream in order to precisely attack certain things like tumors, etc..? I remember reading something about that in a PopSci or SciAmerican magazine in the past year....damn my memory!

Doesn't really fall into "MIS trend" but it is a New Technology.
 
.Net 2005 has really simplified & unified software development...

Especially Windows Forms, Web Forms, Database Development & Reporting, etc.

 
Not really new-new, but you could do it on the emergence of SANs and Fibre Channel Protocol versus iSCSI.

I concur. Do it about Bluray, and the reason that was such an advancement in data storage. You can write about the guy that invented the blue laser led that makes it work.

No-one understands what .net is... but what MIS managers do understand is cost savings & data based management. Its up to you to explain how this new technology increases cost savings.

agreed, it is a good topic, i just dont think it is good for this class...it would be something i would be more inclined to talk about in a 3 or 400 lvl class...this is 200, lol
