what is a blog?

Urban Dictionary - Blog:

Originally a blog was a collection of hyperlinks or links to other places on the web, usually appropriately categorised and indexed etc.

Now the most common understanding of the word is an online journal. With more and more people getting access to the internet and technologies improving all the time it's now possible for joe public to update and control a blog with little to no computing experience necessary.

This liberation has been abused. Now hundreds of thousands of people sit and jabber into their blogs often more than once a day. The content more often than not is inane and is probably the online equivalent of 'small talk'.

To an outsider it seems rediculous that people would give their precious time to reading someone elses daily trivialities, often people they've never met or don't even know in an electronic sense. What we have to realise is after a short while the blogger feels embraced into a community that and has a fulfilled purpose that they might not have had and were longing for.

They are now addicted to blogging like alcohol or tobacco and have had their minds clouded so much they dont realise whats going on. Indeed, confronting a blogger about this will probably result in a fatuous riposte such as "everyones entitled to their own opinion".

There are however some blogs out there that are probably worth a look such as photo blogs.

It's short for "Bigass Log." I.E. An abnormally large defecation. You know, like eating much fiber, but then being stopped-up for a few days and then suddenly releasing.

Where people talk aimlessly about what they ate for dinner, what mp3s they downloaded and how they hate their high school science teacher cause he failed them.

Oh and add in some good old fashion camwhoring, depressed musings, self-diagnoses of a billion mental diseases (don't you know? its cool to be schizo now) and you're all set to go 😉

Edit: I forgot the amazon movie wishlist. You have to like really dark and retarded movies like Requiem for a Dream, Donnie Darko, American Beauty, ad nauseum.

Oh and you have to say "but I digress" and "fvck Bush" a lot 😀

That's kinda what my impression of one was...that's not what I'm interested in doing. I think that the term 'wiki' is what I've heard a little about.

I will soon be posting a question about 'what the heck is a wiki'....

blog is basically an online diary.
male geeks just don't want to admit that they're writing a diary like teenage girls 🙂
