What is a 1070 Ti?

I have seen a few mentions of it on here and the other internets. What is it?

Better described as a GTX 1080 but with 8 Gb/s GDDR5 instead of 10 or 11 GDDR5X. The core is 5% cut but that is almost meaningless. Cut less than any GPU in memory, even less than 980 Ti.

Though I wonder if it will be cut in any other misleading ways. Like how GTX 1070 is 64 ROPs but with 3/4 GPCs resulting in only 48 of those ROPs being fed.

Its basically a 1080 that should sell for about $400. Its actually a pretty exciting card IMO. It should be a real treat for those buying in that price range. Its main job is to fight the Vega 56 and it looks like it will deliver the most unbridled destruction in that regard.

reportedly, a GTX1080 with 1 unit disabled (19 out of 20 working) which means 2432 cores, and same core and mem clocks, for 400$ MSRP.
which is right about EXACTLY WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR! with a small OC could reach GTX1080 but nothing's for sure.
here's to hoping it will be sanely priced in my country. the USD is at it's lowest it has been in years so importing these babies shouldn't be expensive, right? right??

I read that it's going to be 9Gb/s memory.
