What Intel Chipsets support EMT64??

I'm just curious because i can now order a lot more 64-bit P4 processors at work, but i'm not 100% sure which motherboards have support for EMT64 extensions?

I know that the Intel 925 and the Intel 945 chipsets support it, but does the Intel 915 series support it??

thanks 🙂

I wasn't aware that the chipset had anything to do with 64bit.

Granted, the 865/875 series exists on 1 or 2 LGA775 boards, but the CPU is what determines 64bit support.

That's false, i865PE does. I have run Win64 on my AS8. So long as the board supports an EMT64 capable chip, so will your mobo. Intel has 64 bit drivers for the i875T and i865PE chipsets.

Well thats something new then, because previously those chipsets did not support it. Since EM64T is dealing with memory extensions as well, and the memory controller is in the northbridge..the chipset has to support it for it to work..

EDIT: it appears that with the latest bios, the Abit AS8 (865 chipset) does indeed support the 6xx series cpu's, it didn't before.

Yea, also Intel has released a 64bit driver for this chipset as well. You can get it from Guru3d.com

Unless something changed that is not correct. I remember you had to have a 925XI something chipset, the normal 925 would not do.

Incorrect. The Nocona-core Xeon supports EMT64, and there are several Nocona Xeon motherboards based on the i875 chipset including the ASUS NCCH-DL and iWill DH800.

And yes, they do support the EMT64 instruction set.
