Looking to buy a new car in the next few months, and need to look at insurance as well.
I'm 20, will be 21 when I buy the car, and want to know what people my age are doing for insurance.
I am currently covered by my parents policy and want to be under my own.
I have no tickets or accidents.
Looking at buying a $23,000 car (Audi, Volvo, Acura or the likes).
Has to have collision on the policy.
Thanks for looking.

if your under 25, single, a new driver, driving fairly new car, you will be paying a lot. Why not call you local auto insurance place and ask for a quote. My first car was a 88 taurus, the car cost me $4800, my insurance was around $2500 :)

Just got a quote from esurance for $755 every 6 months ($1510 annually).
$100,000/300,000/100,000
With $500 collision deductible and $250 comprehensive deductible, don't think I can beat that!

Wait 4 year?! I don't think so

If you were so fvcking cocksure of yourself why did you ask for our help to begin with?

Why did I ask for people's input? Well, some people on here actually try to post a reply that is helpful.
I posted a valid question to the group because I know that there are quite a few people on here that are the same age and in the same situation, I hoped someone could tell me what they are doing and what their situation is.
My second post was a discovery that I made 20 minutes after I had made the post and continued with my insurance shopping.

No, I don't need that expensive of a car.
What kind of limits for coverage are appropriate for a 21 year old? I really have no idea as to what is needed and what is excessive.

you probably need something that gets you to point A to point B and sometimes to C. Oh, make sure it can hold all of your stuff :)

PsychoAndy gave you an answer and then you proceeded to roll your eyes and say you don't think so. Well if you have it all figured out then why did you need our help? I like to help people with whatever they are looking for, but if you know that is the best deal you can get and you don't think you should wait then go ahead.

I had found your previous post in a search that I had done earlier today, your insurance carrier, State Farm is the company that my family is currently with, and all my family complains about them, so I wanted to know what there is out there.

My rolling eyes to PAB was a reply to PAB's joke about the situation. Insurance for teens and early 20 year old people is ridiculous and costs way to much. I am full aware that I will be paying less than half the amount I will be paying on my new car if I wait four years, but I cannot go without for four years, that is what the rolling eyes was to.

Well maybe I misunderstood you and for that I apologize. I would not get off my parent's policy yet if you don't have to... Your rates will be cheaper regardles. I have had no problems with state farm nor anyone in my family. I actually know a crapload of people with state farm and 99% of had good luck. I have had friends with Geico and Progressive get screwed.

That's good to know about State Farm, maybe it's just our agent that seems crooked. I've met with him a few times and the word sleeze always pops into my head. So Geico and Progressive suck? You mean to tell me the little talking Gecko isn't any good? :) I hate having to look at this stuff, but each personal account helps in the decision making. Thank's for the inputs guys.
Does anyone here use esurance, and how is there service, claims processing, etc?
(I found a post by Supertool (9/4/02), but he didn't have anything really to say about the company except that he had them. PM'ed him to get his input.)

I just bought a car....a cheap car. I'm 20 years old, and a lot of people wanted to rip me off for insurance, so I decided to be covered under my parents policy - which saves me a TON of money. I'm still paying for my insurance, but I'm not getting ripped off. Woohoo!

If you don't mind me asking, what insurance carrier, and how much a year (if you know) is the insurance on just you?
