What insant messenager can be used in LAN?

Windows has its own instant messenger specifically for networks. Just run winpopup.exe in your Windows directory.

Its a little on the simple side, but it works.
 
Exchange 2000 Server has a Messenger component that works quite nicely. If you LAN is running Exchange, I would recommend trying it.
