What incentives are so attractive that they compel you to act unethically in order to attain them?

Used transcends to get my certifications.

Why study hard when you can just memorize the questions/answers?

It's amazing how fast and how much you can learn in 2 weeks on the job.

Getting certs back in the hay-day (b4 the tech bust) meant $$$$$$$.

Whats your story (if any)?

Read the front page of your local newspaper lately?
Watched any of the financial programs on TV?
Caught any of the bank scandals on teh web?
Short answer, most incentives compel some people to act unethically. Some folks believe complying with the letter of the law makes their actions ethical.

You rang? :D
(after 34 years of marriage, I have no problem admitting it) :p

My ethics get challenged regularly. A cashier who gives the wrong change, (WTF, is it my job to do their job for them? :p) finding something of value and the owner can be identified, (oh hell...this is nice, why does it have to be returnable? :D ) in school, as the teacher's aide, I had access to all the tests, all the homework assignments that hadn't been assigned and the solutions manuals, and even the professor's grade books. Not really any ethical challenge for me personally since I was the highest score in the classes, but could have been for many people.

I've always set very high ethical standards for myself. Sometimes it's tough living up to them.

Yep, it's a bitch. It's one of the main reasons I got divorced. The ex-wife continually covered up her kids' lies.

that's horrible.

the thing that's helped me most decide on the standards i now keep is having a child. i've gone back to store's twice in the last few months to return cash i was given back over the amount i was charged. all because my daughter was with me and i thought to myself, "how can i teach her things that i'm not willing to model?".

it makes ya think, that's for sure...
